This thing is a awesome peice of equipt to say the least!!! I have the 22 ton splitter i bought from tsc 5 years ago.. this splitter is 5 times faster and prob 3 times more powerfull.. i was splitn through the knots on purpose to try to get it to slow down.. however it went thuough all of them like they wernt even there... Ive split 100s of truck loads of wood in my life.. this thing is a beast..! trust me... now my only consern is how long it will hold up....???? only time will tell... as of right now.. I LOVE IT!!! worth every penny.. I filled it up with fuel split a truckload on half throttle n it was still clear full when i was done.. running at half throttle is perfect!!!
still just as fast!!!!!

Wonderful Machine!
Date:September 18, 2011
This is an AWSOME Splitter! It will work the Stacker to death! It's so simple!
The ONLY Problem I have is the use of regular Bolts, half of which were Missing, Loose and/or rusted badly?
The Engine was not set squarely, so one belt was loose?
All of these problems are simple to fix, I don't know who assembled this unit? Tractor Supply or Speeco?
Either way, I WOULD RECOMMEND this SPLITTER!
SUPER FAST, TO EASY TO USE! A lot less bending over the Hydraulic Units!

Best investment ever made! Highly recommend

I don't usually write reviews. New prodouct=no reviews... so hope this helps someone else. This splitter is amazing! Drove 90 miles to pick it up because all local stores were sold out. Towed it home without incident. Tires are rated for 45 mph. so it's slow going but no problem. After giving it a once over at home, I added gas and fired it up. Kohler engine runs exceptionally smooth. First log split was 12" diameter... 2nd log split was 20" diameter. Zero resistance on the machine with both. Amazing return time. I laughed for 2 hours straight as I split 1 and a half cords yesterday afternoon. This is a huge time saver. My hydraulic splitter is now for sale. If Tractor Supply would do scheduled product demonstrations for this, you'd have to be on a waiting list to get one.

About time!Goodbye Hyd splitter!
Date:September 24, 2011
This splitter is such a time saver,1.5hrs a little over 2 cords.I will never use a hyd. splitter again. This splitter has plenty of power and the log cradle and the catch table make splitting so much faster. After a very serious hand accident with a splitter last year, the hands free part of this splitter is awesome! Just check bolts for tightness, that was olny problem.

Well, let me start by saying this thing works awesome, at least before 5 of the teeth broke off (after the 10th log) the rack rendering it useless for the group of guys that are coming to help me split tomorrow.
I went to TSC to report the problem only to find out the only other one of these this store sold came back for the same reason.
At this point I am not going to say anything negative until I see how TSC and SpeeCo help me resolve the issue. I'm going to hope that it was a hardening issue and not a major engineering fault.
If this becomes a repeat problem, I will have to return it and go hydraulic.
One other thing they will have to repair is the right axle that is welded on crooked. If left this way it will eat tires if I tow it anywhere.
More to follow....

Wow
Date:October 3, 2011
After reading the reviews I picked up the SpeedPro splitter over the weekend. After checking the fluids and fasteners (some were a bit loose) I put it to use on some weel-seasoned ash and oak. Wow. Half speed and it didn't so much as sputter, even on the bigger pieces, no problem. Neighbor came over twice to check it out. Third time he stayed and helped. I left mine hooked to the back of a full-size truck so I was able to easily toss split logs from the table right into the bed. Really saved my back. Filled the bed in 45 minutes when working alone. These things are going to be hard to get real soon.

I just bought this the other day filled it with oil and gas and went to town. I have never used a splitter before besides a sledge and wedges. This thing works awsome blowing through oak, birch, locast, walnut and some kind of wood I can't identify. I probably split just under a cord in about an hour and a half. I hope it holds up for years to come the only thing I could find at fault is the one axle is welded on at an angle so it would probably wear tires if it was transported alot.

i bought the splitter still in the shipping crate. i wanted to see how it was built, plus make sure everything was tightend correctly. if you do this, make sure you have a buddy to help you get it off your truck. it's heavy. assembly was very easy. had good directions. i split about a pickup load of seasoned oak with no problems. this thing is fast. it went thru everything i put on it. the only thing i'm worried about is how long it will last. after reading the other reviews, i'm concerned about the teeth on the plunger. this thing packs a powerful punch. if it holds up i'll never use a hydraulic splitter again. it's at least 3 times or more as fast. time will tell.

Great splitter
Date:October 10, 2011
So far I split a face cord with my new splitter. Overall I'm very pleased with the results. I will post my pro/con list in a bit but I know there was some question about vibration on this unit. I've also posted this review on another site where this was ea concern. I think what people are referring to is the weak jack stand that is used. This is what causes the wobble. I can see when using it how it will wiggle as it doesn't really provide a stable leg for the front end. This is really a minor issue I remiedied this by leaving it hooked to the ball on my Gator 6x4. This also worked great because as I split, I simply threw the logs into the bed. Big time saver. With it hitched up there was virtually zero movement from the splitter. Only minor vibration from the motor and flywheels which didn't look out of the norm. Here is the list:
Pro:
-Very fast splitting of all types of wood. Put some really knotty red oak in it and it went through it without issue AND I was only at half throttle.
-Easily handles very large circumference logs without issue.
-With the button mod it does make it much easier to operate
-Table is big enough to allow the logs to stay put with only a few falling off. Made for very efficient repeat splits
-Motor is very quite
-very stable when hooked up to a hitch
-Easy to maneuver for storage or hook up.
Con:
-Handle should be moved to the front. Working on modding it next
-front leg is not overly stable
-Logs that have angled cuts do jump off the table. This can be a bit of a hazard so watch out.
-Sometimes the ram when fully extended and then recoiling would cause the handle to pup up which caused some shock to my arm. Not sure why it did this but I'll keep an eye on it. Only happened a couple times.
All in all I think this is a great buy and is so efficient compared to a hydraulic unit. Only time will tell on longevity but so far I'm very pleased with my purchase. While I have made some modifications to the unit I do recommend nor take responsibility for others if they should decide to do the same.

GOOD MACHINE
Date:October 12, 2011
Been using it for 2 weeks, good machine, concept works, splits everything, sometimes you have to be ready to duck, some logs really go flying! If your not quick on your feet pick up a catcher mask of bull riding helmit. The only thing I would change is put a better muffler on it, I wear hearing protecten, but the people around me don't. I would have prferred a Briggs Motor, but if you keep the oil changed it should be fine. It's cut my splitting time in half

So far I am impressed. I cut down a 32" recently deceased very knotty Hickory tree that wasn't suitable for lumber. I had to rig up a crane to lift the main trunk pieces onto the splitter. I must confess it was some work but the Speedpro split up the entire trunk. The knottiest pieces would some times require that I hit them twice with the ram. Though again there wasn't a piece of the Hickory it didn't split. Wood in the 8" to 20" range is a dream to split.
On another splitting, with a helper we split approximately a cord in an hour and we were hustling and sweating profusely. You can not split wood as fast as this thing will split wood!
If you bypass the button safety the rig can be used a lot easier by one person, but do so at your own risk.
I towed it home at 55mph for about half an hour with no noted issues. The motor starts easily with a light pull of the rope in one or two pulls. It does run with a slight bit of bounce, I think due to the heavy spinning flywheels. This in no way thus far has affected performance.
I tote it around our land with a Yamaha golf cart with no issues as the unit is very light. I even backed it down in the woods a short ways by hand to get at a tree.
I have had no performance issues and am thus far impressed! Oh, and you may just find yourself laughing with delight from time to time.
